The Virtual University of Pakistan is pleased to announce the successful execution and completion of the DigiSkills 2.0 Project—a landmark initiative aimed at equipping Pakistan’s workforce with in-demand digital skills.
Launched in January 2022 under the auspices of the Ministry of IT & Telecom and Ignite, the project was originally designed to run for six batches through February 2024. However, in recognition of its exceptional performance, strong demand, and optimal resource utilization, the program was extended to September 2024, accommodating two additional batches.
Building upon the foundation laid by the first phase, DigiSkills 2.0 was tasked with delivering 1.5 million trainings across 15 specialized courses covering freelancing, e-commerce, digital marketing, and other emerging digital fields—all while remaining within the allocated budget. We are proud to report that these targets have not only been met but substantially exceeded, with the program successfully delivering over 2.3 million trainings.
Key Milestones Achieved:
- Successful completion of over 2.3 million trainings by September 2024, significantly surpassing the initial target of 1.5 million.
- Notable growth in the number of active freelancers contributing to Pakistan’s rising IT exports and positively impacting household incomes.
- Expansion of course offerings from the initial 10 to 15 specialized courses, addressing the growing need for diversified digital skills in the national and global markets.
The DigiSkills 2.0 Project stands as a transformational national initiative, empowering underserved segments of society, including youth, women, and unemployed individuals. By exceeding its ambitious targets and fostering a culture of digital entrepreneurship and freelancing, DigiSkills 2.0 has made a meaningful contribution to Pakistan’s social and economic development.
